Behaviour	Elephant shrews are very active during the day, and very seldom seen in the wild. They are well camoflaged and make a series of cleared pathways throught the undergrowth and spend their days patrolling them for insect life.
Diet	Largely insects and other small creatures, particularly beetles, spiders, worms, ants and termites, mostly gleaned from leaf litter. They will also eat seeds and some green shoots.
Habitat	Although not common, can be found in almost any habitat from desert to boulder strewn outcrops to thick forest.
Status	Not at risk. Note however that other species of elephant shrew are listed as endangered.
